GULBARGA: The Gulbarga Urban Development Authority (GUDA) on Wednesday gave its approval to a surplus budget of Rs. 2.11 crore for 2008-09.
A special budget meeting presided over by GUDA chairman and Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey here approved the budget presented by GUDA Commissioner Kashinath Gokhale.
As per the budget proposals, GUDA’s expected revenue during the year was Rs. 47.65 crore. Of this, Rs. 45.54 crore has been shown as expenditure.
The budget has made provisions for developing GUDA layouts and constructing compound walls around parks and gardens in the city. The budget has also set aside Rs. 2.50 crore for drainage and other works in the city after the road widening work is taken up.
The budget has provided Rs. 1 crore for the development of a hi-tech Rajiv Gandhi Park in Dariapur-Kotnur GUDA Layout with all modern facilities, including those for children.
The GUDA has decided to take over the maintenance of the public garden and the picnic spot at Kesaratagi village on the outskirts of Gulbarga city developed by the district administration and the Forest Department.
Mr. Gokhale said that Rs. 10 lakh had been allotted for the construction of a multi-storeyed parking facility in the Super Market area. The allocation would be increased when the construction activity begins.
A sum of Rs. 50 lakh has been earmarked for the construction of an overbridge on Old Jewargi Road. The proposal will be taken up with the Railways soon.
Mr. Gokhale said that Rs. 1 crore had been set aside for laying a underground drainage pipeline in the old GUDA layouts in the city.
The budget had also made provisions for the construction of vegetable market shelters in four important junctions in the city at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh.
