Textiles Minister Varthur Prakash has said that Rs. 20 crore has been released from the Chief Minister's Development Fund for the development of Kolar town.

Asphalting of roads and laying cement roads in the town will be completed by the end of April this year, the Minister said.

Mr. Prakash, who is the district in-charge Minister, was speaking after hoisting the Tricolour at the Sir M. Visweswaraya District Stadium here to mark the 63rd Republic Day celebrations.

Noting that tubewell water had fluoride content in the district, Mr. Prakash said that the Government has initiated several steps to supply potable water to the residents.

MLC Y.A. Narayanaswamy, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police K. Tyagarajan, Additional Deputy Commissioner N. Babanna and Zilla Panchayat president N. Manjula participated in the function.

Bharatiyam, a display by Al-Ameen High School students, enthralled the gathering.
