Officials told to implement schemes effectively

Belgaum: Chairman of D. Devaraj Urs Backward Class Development Corporation N. Shankarappa has urged the State Government to make a provision for Rs.190 crore for the corporation in the next budget.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, he said the corporation had submitted a proposal in this regard to the Government.

He said the corporation was concerned about the development and welfare of the people belonging to backward classes, who comprise over 50 per cent of the State's population.

It was therefore obvious that the corporation was looking forward to adequate financial support from the Government to bring in quantitative and qualitative improvement in the socio-economic conditions of the poorer sections within the backward classes.
