Two unidentified robbers barged into an auto gas agency in Banashankari on Wednesday and took away Rs. 8.91 lakh in cash after allegedly gagging and thrashing an accountant of the agency.

The robbery took place in Confident Auto Gas at the 18th Cross of 3rd Main in Banashankari 2nd Stage at 2.40 p.m. According to the Banashankari police, the miscreants entered the agency when Shantha Kumari, an account, was alone in the office.

Four other employees had stepped out for lunch.According to what Ms. Shantha Kumari told the police, she tried to the resist, but they hit her, bound her hands and feet with a rope, gagged her and made away with the cash.

The police suspect that the men were known to the company as they seemed to know when Ms. Shantha Kumari would be alone in office. The police have registered a case of robbery.

Pedestrian dies

A 24-year-old man, who was working as an employee in a private company here, died in a road accident on Wednesday night.

The Ulsoorgate traffic police, who are investigating the case, identified the victim as B.B. Biradar, a native of Bijapur district's Basavana Bagewadi taluk. He was working as an office assistant in a private company near Hudson Circle.

According to the police, a motorcycle hit Mr. Biradar while he was crossing the road near Hudson Circle. He sustained severe injuries and died in a nearby private hospital. The motorcycle rider, Murugan of Banashankari, who is a window-cleaner, was also injured in the accident.
