Taking suo motu cognisance of a report in the media about some senior students of the State-owned Goa engineering college indulging in ragging, the Goa State Human rights Commission on Wednesday issued notice to the Principal of the college. The notice is returnable on August 20.

The issue came up for discussion during a special meeting convened on Monday by Goa Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo who is also the Chancellor of Goa University, to review the anti-ragging measures being taken by various educational institutions.

The Principal of Goa Engineering College told the Governor during the course of the meeting that he had ordered a probe into the ragging that allegedly took place on the college bus.
