A 32-year-old software engineer, working as team leader in an IT company, was killed on the spot in a hit and run on Iblur Road near Sobha apartments early Thursday.

Shashikanth Pandey, a native of Bihar, was riding home when his motorcycle rammed the road divider. He was flung on the opposite side and an oncoming vehicle ran over him.

Passersby took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Madiwala police booked a case.

Crushed to death

Lakshman (27), a lorry cleaner, was crushed to death by his own vehicle on OTC Road when he was guiding the driver to reverse the vehicle Thursday morning.

Cottonpet police said instead of reversing right, the vehicle moved in Lakshman’s direction, crushing the Hubli native against a wall and killing him.

Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Necklace snatched

Two men on a motorcycle snatched Meena Kumar’s gold chain as she was walking towards a marriage hall from the parking lot Wednesday night, Banasawadi police said.

Temple thieves arrested

Soladevanahalli police have arrested Muniraju (30) and Maraiah (20), who are allegedly involved in over 50 temple theft cases, and recovered gold valuables worth Rs.3 lakh from them.

Police said they were nabbed trying to sell the loot.
