MANGALORE: The village assistants of the Revenue Department have appealed to the Government to revise their pay scales.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Janardhan Bantwal, honorary president, Karnataka State Revenue Department Village Assistants Association, said the 10,450 village assistants were thankful to the Government for making their jobs permanent from April 1, 2007.

Earlier, the village assistants were appointed for periods of three months to one year.

In view of the rising cost of living, the salary of village assistants should also be revised.Service facilities similar to group “D” employees should be extended to village assistants, Mr. Bantwal said at the press conference here on Friday.
