The new pay scales for employees of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporations (RTCs) will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2013. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting here on Saturday.

The tripartite meeting was held between the Joint Committee of Trade Unions of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporations, the government and managements of corporations.

A press release issued by the committee said that the government had already announced that 76.75 per cent of dearness allowance as on April 1, 2012, would be merged with the basic salary of workers as on December 31, 2012, to form the new pay scale.

The State government has agreed to issue an order to this effect immediately. And as the earlier wage revision came into effect from August 2012 instead of January 2012, the arrears would be paid along with the salary of April and May 2013, the release added.

Dharna plan dropped

The committee which had planned a dharna on February 11 seeking revised pay for road transport employees, has now dropped the plan.
