A large number of village assistants took out a procession here on Saturday urging the Government to revise the pay scale and consider bringing them under Group ‘D'.

They urged the Government to include this demand in the budget.

The procession started from Chamarajeshwara temple and the protesters staged a rasta roko at Bhuvaneshwari Circle before reaching the district office complex where they staged a dharna.

They said that nearly 14,450 personnel had been working as village assistants in the State Revenue Department for 35 years.

But they were receiving only honorarium. They submitted a memorandum at the complex.
