Government may blacklist KLAC
HASSAN: Minister for Public Works and Energy H.D. Revanna has asked Hazzan Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer F.R. Jamaadar to hand over the work taken up by Karnataka Land Army Corporation (LAC) in the district to Corps of Detectives (CoD) in view of allegations of irregularities levelled against the Corporation.
Participating in a review meeting of Karnataka development programme here recently, he regretted that the works implemented by KLAC is of low quality and there were complaints of embezzlement of funds against it.
"It is necessary to black list the corporation from participating in the bidding of government work and the issue will be broached in the next Cabinet meeting," he added.
Criticizing the corporation for not completing the works assigned in time, he said the quality of work is not to the expected level because of its enthusiasm to award sub-contracts.
He made it clear that he was against awarding any work proposed by Public Works Department to the KLAC.
Expressing his total dissatisfaction over the delay in completing the work on Ambedkar Bhavan, which was taken up by the corporation eight years ago, he asked the authorities of corporation to hand over the work to Public Works Department in case they cannot execute the work.
Reviewing the progress of work on building toilets in various colleges and schools in the district, he said the progress of work is not satisfactory and assured that efforts will be made to provide drinking water facilities to every government college and school.
