Bharatiya Janata Party State president Pralhad Joshi has taken exception to the move of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) to sell “excess land” acquired by it to private organisations and companies.

Answering to a query on the farmers’ opposition to allot the land acquired by the KIADB for the expansion of Hubli airport, during a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Joshi expressed surprise over the KIADB’s move.

He said that he had played an active role in the initiation of development of Hubli airport but was shocked to learn that the KIADB had acquired excess land for the purpose.

He said he would be with the farmers in their fight for getting their farmlands back. He also urged the State government to take a decision on returning the “excess land” to the farmers.
