HUBLI: The Hubli Division of the South Western Railway celebrated “World Elders’ Day” at the divisional office here recently by felicitating retired railway employees.

Divisional Railway Manager Rakesh Vatash felicitated 31 retired railway employees on the occasion.

Mr. Vatash called upon officials to give priority to issues concerning senior citizens, particularly former railway employees.

Advice

R. Baskaran, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli Division, advised former railway employees to make optimum use of modern gadgets such as mobile phones, ATMs and computers for communication and financial transactions.

Responding to the felicitation, former railway officials S.P. Desai, Gundu Rao, Somasundaram, Joshi, Diwakar and others lauded the initiatives taken by the Hubli Division for the welfare of former employees.

They hailed the setting up of “Sampark,” a grievance redressal cell set up by the division for providing information on pension, dearness allowance and other matters pertaining to railway employees.

R. Hombal, president of the Retired Railway Employees’ Association, Hubli, commended the way railway pensioners were treated by the department.

L.V.V.S Patrudu, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, welcomed the gathering. Mohan Kumar, Divisional Personnel Officer, proposed a vote of thanks.
