The Kendra Kannada Kriya Samiti of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to enact a law to earmark 50 per cent of jobs in multi-national corporations in the State to Kannadigas.

V.H. Channe Gowda, president of the samiti, expressed the hope that the Chief Minister’s would keep his promise of increasing job opportunities to the youth. He said the samiti leaders would meet him on Monday to make a formal appeal.

In the absence of legislation, candidates from other States were cornering jobs in MNCS in the State.

Opposition’s help

He said the samiti would seek the help of Opposition parties too in getting such a law enacted. Mr. Gowda underscored the need for revising the recommendations of the Sarojini Mahishi commission.

He said that the samiti had chosen the former mayor of Belgaum Siddanagouda Patil for the Karnataka Choodamani award in recognition of his contribution to Kannada language and the State.

It will be presented to Mr. Patil at a programme in Belgaum in June. The award carries a purse of Rs. 10,000.
