Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest in front of the Mangalore City Corporation at Lalbagh on Monday urging the civic body to repair interior roads at the earliest.

Earlier, they took out a procession from Lady Hill Circle to the corporation.

In a memorandum submitted to corporation Commissioner Harish Kumar K., president of city unit of DYFI B.K. Imtiyaz said that many interior roads in the city were in bad condition for the last three years.

He alleged that the corporation used funds released from the State Government for developing main roads and neglected interior roads. The corporation had ignored constructing roadside drains.

The unit said that earlier many organisations had urged the civic body to repair interior roads, lay pavements, and build drains. The civic body had ignored representations given by organisations, the memorandum alleged.

Mr. Imtiyaz said that earlier people from Bajal, Alape, Panjimogaru, Katipalla, Idya, Vamanjoor, Jeppinamogaru, Urwa Stores, Kannur, Konchady, Kavoor, and Shaktinagar had drawn the attention of the civic body to the pathetic condition of the roads. But the corporation had ignored their pleas, he alleged.
