Sarvadharma Samanvaya Sammelan organised

All religious orders are aimed at attaining salvation Sants blamed for dividing people on the lines of dharma

SHRAVANABELAGOLA: Underlining the importance of non-violence and renunciation, the basic tenets of Jainism, in the present day consumer-driven and strife-stricken society, the Sarvadharma Samanvaya Sammelan organised by the Sri Digamabaraj Jain Math Committee (SDJMC) on the occasion of the Mahamastakabhisheka here on Friday, noted that these canons play an important role in maintaining peace and harmony in society.

Inaugurating the sammelan, the former Principal Secretary Chiranjeevi Singh said that it is difficult for people to neglect the differences and animosities among religious groups and faiths. But those who fail to understand that the concept of God is too big to fit in to one religion are creating problems, he said.

Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami of Ramachandrapura Mutt, Tirthahalli, said that Bahubali belongs to all faiths, as the ideals he stood for are universal. These ideals can help attain lasting peace, he added.

Shivasugnana Swami of Aremadanahalli Mahasamthana Mutt, Hassan, said tyaga (renunciation) of Jainism is a great ideal and relevant in the current times when materialism has overtaken man.
