ATTUR: United Farmers Association has urged the district administration to remove the encroachments in the land belonging to Arignar Anna Government Arts College here.

Association president C. Vaiyapuri said a few private persons encroached upon the college lands. Despite repeated requests from the college management, the revenue officials were yet to initiate any concrete steps to evict the encroachments. The College is providing opportunities to a large number of rural students to pursue their higher education. Various associations sent petitions to the Collector and Agriculture minister seeking the removal of encroachments, the release said.

Meanwhile, the association along with other voluntary organisations had decided to organise a rally from the college to Attur town on August 15 urging the officials to remove encroachments. Tree saplings would also be planted on the day.
