Reliance Retail, the retailing arm of leading industrial conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd., launched its second cash-and-carry store in the country, in Bangalore, on Wednesday.

Reliance Market, spread over 50,000 sq. ft, and located at the TTMC in Shantinagar, will cater to local kirana traders, small businesses, hotels, restaurants and offices, offering a range of regional, national and international brands to its partner members, at “very compelling” wholesale prices, said Randall Guttery, CEO, Reliance Market.

The company claimed that it has already enrolled 50,000 “partner members”.

The store is stocked with more than 8,500 products ranging from electronics to footwear and food products. Prospective members only need a business licence issued either by the State government, municipality or panchayat.

Membership is initially free but traders have to undergo a “short and simple” registration process and provide either a copy of their Shops and Establishment Licence or VAT registration.
