SHIMOGA: Activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) on Wednesday urged the Centre to reject the report submitted by Justice Sageer Ahmed Committee recommending autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir.

They submitted a memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner Nirvanappa here appealing to the Centre not to accept the recommendations of the committee as they were against national integrity.

They said that it was unfortunate that the committee, which had been formed to conduct a study on improving the relations between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country, had recommended autonomy to that State.

They said that the Union Government’s policy on Kashmir had been detrimental to the national unity and integrity.

They said that Jammu and Kashmir should not be allowed to be separated from India.

The activists criticised the decision of the Centre to withdraw 30,000 soldiers from the Kashmir valley.

ABVP State Associate Secretary Shashikumar and activists Tejaswi, Mahesh,Shivkumar and Santosh led the delegation.
