PANAJI: Social activist Aires Rodrigues has demanded that the fees paid to Goa’s Advocate General (AG) Subodh Kantak be immediately reduced and brought on par with that of AGs in other States.
In a memorandum to Chief Secretary Hauzel Haukhum on Friday, Mr. Rodrigues said Goa’s AG was getting up to Rs. 5 lakh a month as against the AGs of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat, whose average remuneration was Rs. 40,000 a month. Mr. Rodrigues said while Goa’s AG received Rs. 8,000 each time he appeared in the High Court, his counterpart in Karnataka received only Rs. 1,000 for the first case.
