BIDAR: Ravi S. took charge as the Superintendent of Police in Bidar on Monday. He replaces Roopa Divakar who has been made the Assistant Inspector General of Police (crime).

Mr. Ravi told presspersons here on Tuesday that the district police force would focus on basic policing, which meant protecting the life, liberty and property of citizens.

The force would work like a team and would strive hard to maintain law and order and ensure peace, Mr. Ravi said. Strict disciplinary action would be taken against personnel who were negligent in their duties.

He said efforts would be made to increase police-public interaction. People could directly approach him for grievance redressal, he said. In reply to a question, he said he had never suffered from political interference in his career.

Mr. Ravi is an engineering graduate who has earlier served as Superintendent of Police in Karwar and Koppal.
