BANGALORE: The former Chief Electoral Officer of the State, Ramalinga Ramaseshan, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX), Mumbai. The Board of the Exchange, which met in Mumbai on Saturday last, made the appointment.

The initial appointment of Mr. Ramaseshan would be for a period of three years from April 29, 2008.

P.H. Ravikumar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NCDEX, had expressed his desire of not continuing beyond the expiry of his term of office on April 28, 2008 and had sought approval of the board, said a release.

A 1982 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, Mr. Ramaseshan opted for voluntary retirement as Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka in February 2008.
