Bangalore: Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, winner of this year’s Nobel Prize for Chemistry, will be delivering a public lecture at the Indian Institute of Science on January 5.

The molecular biophysicist, much-celebrated in India despite his often-expressed weariness of publicity, will be speaking about his “Journey from Baroda to Cambridge” at the capacious J.N. Tata Auditorium which can be expected to be filled to capacity and beyond, judging by the rousing reception he got at the University of Madras on Tuesday.

Dr. Ramakrishnan’s association with Baroda in Gujarat goes back to his school days when his father was appointed at the Maharaja Sayajirao University.
