To create awareness on dengue, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, along with the Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC), organised a rally here on Thursday.

CMC Commissioner S. Prakash flagged off the rally on the CMC premises, off the Bangalore–Mysore highway.

The CMC Commissioner and the participants distributed pamphlets with information on symptoms of dengue, preventive steps, mosquito-control measures, treatment available, and telephone numbers of government hospitals.

The participants urged people to ensure that there was no stagnant water in the surroundings and also requested people to keep their overhead tanks clean.

Health inspectors requested people to keep their surroundings clean by not dumping garbage in drains.

Councillor S.K. Shivaprakash Babu; senior executive engineer (CMC) Madhusudhan; senior health inspector Hariprasad; CMC officials Puttaswamy, Govindraju, Sanjana, Pratap, Srinivas, Cheluvaraju and Basavaraju; officials from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, and volunteers from various organisations participated.
