Mysore division of South Western Railway felicitated some of its employees for their efficiency and commitment and presented them with the ‘Person of the Month’ award early this week.

Introduced in a bid to motivate the staff to achieve higher levels of efficiency and excellence, the awards were instituted in January 2012 and have been a regular monthly affair since then.


The Person of the Month award was given to employees in various departments and the recipients for October are Nagaraja Uduga, helper, in Signal and Telecommunication Department (Economy); Vijayakumar, senior section officer, Accounts Department (Innovation); Madaiah, station master, Ballekere railway station; N. Narsimhamurty, retired keyman, Tiptur; G. Suresha, office superintendent, Personnel Department; and K.K. Manjunatha, Trackman, Tiptur.

A release said the awards were given away by Divisional Railway Manager Vinod Kumar. The objective of instituting the award was to recognise the contribution of field staff and trackmen whose services used to go unrecognised. The idea was to honour them for their selfless service as they toil at odd hours ensuring the smooth functioning of the railways.

The award includes a citation describing the reasons for the award and a cash ranging from Rs. 750 to Rs. 1000.
