Member of Parliament for Chamarajanagar R. Druvanarayan has said that efforts would be made to provide more facilities to the public at Chamarajanagar Railway Station, one of those chosen to be developed as an ‘Adarsh station'.

Mr. Druvanarayan was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed railway overbridge at Mariyala gate here on Saturday.

The overbridge at Mariyal gate has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 41.05 crore. Although its initial estimate was Rs. 11.5 crore, the rise in cement and iron prices drove up its cost. The 8-m high, 7.5-m wide bridge covers a distance of 1 km.

The MP said there would be efforts to have more trains to Chamarajanagar. He pointed out the convenience of the newly introduced Tirupati-Chamarajanagar train. The youth of the region would be employed to issue tickets at a private counter in Chamarjanagar Railway Station, he added.

Besides, the Mysore-Nanajagud Road would be developed, he said. The tender process had begun and Rs. 9 crore had been released towards this.

Senior Division Commercial Manager Anup Dayanand and Chamarajanagar MLA Puttarangashetty were among those present.
