BELLARY: The Bellary District Railway Action Committee has convened a meeting at the ASM Women's College auditorium in the city on January 2 to discuss the "pros and cons" of the proposed move of the South-Western Railway to run the Hubli-Bangalore Hampi Express separately via Bellary, Rayadurga, and Chikjajur.

Mr. Maheshwarswamy, committee convenor, told presspersons that the railways had planned to de-link the Hampi Express from 6593/6594 and run it as an express train between Hubli and Bangalore on the new route and wanted the opinion of the people.

The railways had said that the issue was discussed at the Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee in Hubli recently.

The railways had clarified that the Chikjajur-Guntakal (251) train will give connection to passengers of Bangalore-New Delhi Karnataka Express (2627) at Guntakal.
