Rs. 66.36 crore reserved for development works proposed by the ZP
The zilla panchayat at its general body meeting held here on Saturday approved a Rs. 169.45-crore action plan for 2010-11.
Of this, Rs. 66.36 crore has been reserved for development works proposed by the zilla panchayat, Rs. 45.85 crore for works proposed by taluk panchayats, and Rs. 57.32 crore for works proposed by gram panchayats.
President of the zilla panchayat Padmavati Eranna chaired the meeting.
Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat M.G. Vijayakumar said that the action plan would be implemented after forwarding it to the Government for its approval.
Under the development works proposed by the zilla panchayat, priority will be given to integrated development of primary and secondary education, mainly by improving basic facilities such as constructing school buildings and providing drinking water facility. Priority will also be given to improving transportation facility by upgrading roads and bridges.
It is also proposed to improve medical services in rural areas, improve agriculture, strengthen social welfare and Scheduled Caste and Backward Class welfare services.
Of the total allocation of Rs. 66.36 crore for the zilla panchayat, the State Government will provide Rs. 55.06 crore and Rs. 11.29 crore will come from the Union Government.
The details of allocation of funds for implementing various development works are: primary and secondary education Rs. 23.51 crore; family welfare programmes Rs. 8.24 crore; roads and bridges Rs.7.13 crore; medical, public health and rural health Rs. 3.83 crore; agriculture Rs. 3.77 crore; backward class welfare Rs. 3.46 crore; social welfare Rs. 3.45 crore; scheduled caste welfare Rs. 2.96 crore; forest and soil conservation Rs. 1.56 crore; grants for improvement of panchayati raj institutions Rs. 65. 2 lakh; horticulture Rs. 47 lakh; animal husbandry Rs. 47.5 lakh; fisheries Rs. 45 lakh; sports and youth services Rs. 26 lakh; Indian medical system Rs. 25 lakh; village and small industries Rs. 19.5 lakh; sericulture Rs. 9.7 lakh; cooperation Rs. 8.15 lakh; adult education Rs. 5 lakh; science and technology Rs. 4.05 lakh; handloom industry Rs. 3.3 lakh and arts and culture Rs. 2.5 lakh.
Vice-president Dodda Basavaraj and members of the ZP, TP presidents, including Narasimha Naik (Raichur), Shantappa Anwari (Lingsugur) and Chandrashekar Kurdi (Manvi), and officials of various departments were present.
