The former IPS officer, Kiran Bedi, who is part of the anti-corruption campaign spearheaded by social activist Anna Hazare, on Saturday asked people of Karnataka to desist from showing caste feelings when fighting against corruption.

Stating that the fight against corruption was crucial for the people of Karnataka, she said: “If Karnataka wins, then India will win.”

Addressing a public meeting in Bangalore as part of the exercise to muster support from the people of different States for the anti-corruption campaign, Ms. Bedi said: “I know that of late there is a division in society on caste lines in Karnataka.”

But there was a dire need to shun such caste feelings in the fight against corruption, she observed. But she did not elaborate on her remarks.

Several freedom fighters, including nonagenarian Gandhian H.S. Doreswamy sat among the audience and listened to Mr. Hazare at the public meeting.
