Plan to publish education magazine for students
DHARWD: Sri Siddhalinga swamiji of Gadag Tontadarya Math has said that reading will help one to expand one’s mental horizons.
He was inaugurating the “Pustaka Vachana Sahaya” scheme launched by Dr H.F. Kattimani Proudha Shikshana Pratishthana, Karnatak Vidyavardhaka Sangha and Tontadarya Math’s Lingayata Addhyana Samsthe to promote reading habit among students, in Dharwad on Thursday.
The seer said that the e late H.F. Kattimani had brought about a literary revolution in north Karnataka and Hyderabad-Karnataka regions.
Journalist Patil Puttappa who released the book “Dr. H.F. Kattimani”, recalled contributions made by Kattimani towards building educational institutions in north Karnataka.
“He faced hardships in his endeavour to spread knowledge. But he and always fought for the welfare of the students”, he said.
Writer of the book and librarian S.R. Gunjal recalled his association with Kattimani. Former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University S.P. Hiremath hoped that the new scheme would go a long way in developing reading habit among children.
Honorary director of the Pratishthana Shivashankar Hiremath spoke about the scheme and said that the foundation had plans to publish an education magazine for the students.
Presiding over the function, Additional Commissioner of Department of Public Instruction M.H. Sherif said that books always had an impact on life. K. Raghavendra Rao, S.P. Hiremath, Shantala Shivashankar Hiremath and S.R. Gunjal were felicitated on the occasion.
