Bijapur: Deputy Commissioner R. Shantraju has said that the district administration has made necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Pulse Polio programme scheduled to begin on January 10. Presiding over a meeting of the district-level officers at his office on Thursday evening, he said that a total of 3,15,389 children, including 81,658 children in Bijapur city and 2,33,731 in rural areas, would be administered the Pulse Polio drops during the programme.

A total of 275 polio booths in city limits and 1,012 booths in the rural areas would be set up for administering Pulse Polio drops to children below the age of five.

As many as 2,026 medical staff and 256 supervisors have been deputed for the programme. Separate booths would be set up at bus terminals, railway stations and market places to reach out to all the children who need to be administered the Pulse Polio drops.
