Bellary district has recorded a pass percentage of 42.5 in the pre-university examination, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. As usual, girls have fared better than boys.

In the district-wise performance chart, the district has slipped from the 15th position last year to 20th this year. Of the 18,985 students, including 12,789 regulars who appeared for the examination, 8,069 have passed. In the Science group, S.R. Bageshri of Best School in Bellary has secured the highest marks (580) in the district. B. Naveen of Nandi International in Bellary and Sanjana Shetty of Best School have scored 573 and 570 to take the second and third positions. In the Commerce section, S.M. Priyanka of Nandi School has scored the highest marks of 565 followed by N. Shravani of Chaitanya PU College (563).

In the Arts section, B.K. Manjunath of Municipal Junior College, Bellary, tops the list with 529 marks.
