The Janata Dal (Secular) has come down on the Davangere City Corporation for not providing potable water regularly.

“Earlier, people received water once in three days. Then, it was eight days, and now it is 14 days,” the JD(S) said. The party said it was the corporation’s basic duty to provide water at least once in two days.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, T. Dasakariyappa, president of the party’s district unit, and B.M. Sathish, working president of the JD(S), said that the corporation recently hiked the water cess from Rs. 660 per year to Rs. 2,100.

The party demanded that the corporation provide water to the city once in four days, and threatened to take out an agitation on February 3 if this was not done.
