Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.C. Jayanna has instructed the officials concerned to take steps to provide drinking water to government schools across the district.

He was speaking while reviewing the progress of various departments at the Karnataka Development Program meeting held here on Wednesday.

There is no dearth of funds to provide drinking water to schools, he said. Mr. Jayanna suggested that the officials concerned prepare a list of schools where there were no water connections.

C.M. Satish, president, Standing Committee (Agriculture and Industries), said most of the schools in Mavalli taluk were facing drinking water problem.

The Irrigation Department officials said they would submit proposals for rejuvenation of lakes in the district.
