Traffic in the city went haywire here on Tuesday after tens of thousands of Congress party workers demonstrated against the Bharatiya Janata Party Government, demanding its ouster, on the city's arterial roads.

Mid-morning commuters had a tough time as agitators blocked the roads. The traffic police did their best to clear the jams and divert vehicles on to other roads.

With protestors gathering at the Rajarajeshwarinagar arch on Mysore Road in strength, a large number of vehicles ground to a halt on either side of the junction for well over an hour, causing much hardship to the motorists.

Similarly, thousands of vehicles were trapped in a gridlock on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), between Nagawara Junction and the Hennur traffic light.

Commuters started taking alternative roads to reach their destination while some tried to brave it out in the traffic.
