Protesters blocked the Karwar-Yeshwantpur train at Karki Railway Station in Honnavar taluk on Friday demanding a stop for the train at Karki. The protesters stopped the train at the railway station for over one hour as part of “rail roko” to press for their demand.

MLA Dinakar Shetty, members of Railway Action Committees of Honnavar and Taluk Kannada Abhimani Sangha, participated in the rail roko agitation.

Extract assurance

The protesters squatted on the railway tracks and said they would not leave the place until the railway officials assured them that the Karwar-Yashwantpur train would be stopped at the Karki Railway Station.

Mr. Shetty said the agitation would not be withdrawn until the railway officials accepted their demand.
