The residents of various slums in Bijapur city will launch an indefinite strike from May 31 in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office, raising various demands, including permanent shelters.

These people will take out a procession from the Gandhi Chowk, which would pass through the main streets of the city and culminate at the Deputy Commissioner's office premises. They will stage a dharna there. The agitation is backed by Centre of Indian Trade Unions and the All India Democratic Women's Association, a press release said. — Staff Correspondent
