The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, CITU, DYFI and other Left organisations staged a protest in front of the Town Hall here on Thursday against the increase in power tariff.

District convenor of Prantha Raitha Sangha B. Umesh said that people were already suffering from rise in prices of essential commodities and the present power tariff hike would hit the people badly.

The agitators warned the State Government that they would intensify their agitation if the government did not withdraw the hike.

CPI district secretary Kambegowda, CITU district secretary N.K. Subramanya, DYFI district secretary Raghavendra, Kolegeri Nivasigala Hitha Rakshana Samiti, working president Syed Altaf and others were present.
