DAVANGERE: Activists of the Davangere unit of the Communist party of India (Marxists) CPI (M) on Friday staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here protesting against the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. It termed the hike an "anti-people step".

They raised slogans against the Government and later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.

Addressing the agitators, Lakshminarayan Bhat, Communist party of India (Marxists) leader, said the Left parties should pressure the Government to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel .
