Amid the light rain and cloudy weather on Wednesday, Kolar town witnessed a protest against growing atrocities on women.

Activists, both men and women, from progressive organisations, led by Janawadi Mahila Sanghatane, took out a procession before staging a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office condemning the alleged failure of the district administration to arrest S.K. Santhosh Kumar accused of murdering his wife and daughter.

Coming from various parts of the district, functionaries of JMS, CITU, CPI(M), KPRS, DYFI, SFI, Dalit Sangharsh Samiti and the Samata Sainik Dal gathered at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and raised slogans in favour of their demand. Students of different educational institutions also joined the protest.

Holding placards and raising slogans crying a halt to growing atrocities against women in the country, the protesters took out the procession from the Inspection Bungalow. They condemned what they termed the “anti-women approach of the State government”.
