A government advisory on Wednesday warned that no person by himself or through any persons acting on his behalf will manufacture or store for sale, sell or distribute any pneumatic tyres and tubes for automotive vehicles which do not bear the standard mark and which have not been manufactured by a person who had a license for the purpose.

The order prescribes direction, norms for manufacture, storage and sale of any Pneumatic Tyres and Tubes for Automotive Vehicles which do not bear the Standard Mark. It has clearly pointed out that such persons and those who have made applications to the Bureau for obtaining a license for the use of the Standard Mark, are not authorised to manufacture or produce the Pneumatic Tyres and Tubes for Automotive Vehicles till then obtain license of Standard Mark from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, Udyog Bhavan, New Delhi, by virtue of the said Order.
The order, however, provides that the Central government may, on an application made, grant exemption from Standard Mark, if it is satisfied that the Pneumatic Tyres and Tubes for Automotive Vehicles manufactured and dispatched were for export purposes and were as per the Overseas Standards or as per buyer’s specifications and do not coincide with the corresponding requirements of the Indian Standards.
The Pneumatic Tyres and Tubes for Automotive Vehicles which do not conform to the prescribed standard will be destroyed immediately, it further noted.
