Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok, who also holds the Home portfolio, on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that senior police officials were conducting an inquiry into the violence and lathi-charge during a demonstration organised by the Magida Misalati Horata Samithi (MRHS) in front of Suvarna Soudha Vidhana here on Tuesday.

Responding to a call attention motion by Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi, Mr. Ashok said all the persons arrested during the violence had been released and there was none in the police custody. On the demand for withdrawal of cases against them, the Home Minister said he would look into provisions in the law and take a decision accordingly.
