The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a demonstration here on Tuesday condemning the State government’s decision to adopt the private universities Bill, which will clear the establishment of 22 private universities.

The ABVP has accused the government of attempting to commercialise education.

In a press release issued here on Wednesday, Ravi Gouda, joint secretary of the ABVP’s city unit, sought an explanation as to whether the government had examined the need to permit these private universities or verified their track record. He urged the Governor not to give his assent to the Bill.
