President of India Pranab Mukherjee will participate in the golden jubilee programme of the Sainik School, Bijapur, on September 24.
“For the first time in history of Sainik School, Bijapur, the President is participating in a programme, therefore, it is a matter of great pride not only for the Sainik School but also for the people of Bijapur city”, said Deputy Commissioner Shivayogi Kalasad.
Addressing presspersons at the Sainik School conference hall here on Wednesday, he said all through the past year, the school had been organising various activities to mark the golden jubilee of the school.
On September 24, the school would complete its fifty years of establishment, thus, the decision was taken to invite the President of the country, who had already given his consent to participate in the programme.
Governor H. R. Bharadwaj and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would also attend the event, he said.
He said Mr. Mukherjee was expected to arrive in a chopper from Belgaum around 12 p.m., and he would be here for about an hour before leaving for Delhi. Principal R. Balaji said the School would celebrate its founders’ day on September 15 and 16 by presenting a special programme in Bijapur by selected personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force.
