Terming the Rs. 9,197-crore BBMP budget as inflated, the Opposition parties have sought its withdrawal and have asked the civic body to present a budget that is workable.

Janata Dal (Secular) leader Padmanabha Reddy has written to Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda seeking withdrawal of the budget, while Leader of Opposition M. Udayshankar, speaking on the budget, urged for new budget proposals that are implementable. Mr. Udayshankar pointed out that the targeted revenue collections from property tax, advertisement tax and rent on optic fibre cable could be met. Mr. Reddy has stated that even last year's Rs. 8,848-crore budget could not be implemented.
