MYSORE: The countdown for Dasara celebrations has begun with the Mysore district-in-charge Minister D.T. Jayakumar announcing on Tuesday that the festivities will be celebrated in a grand manner.

He has directed officials to complete preliminary work including road repair well in advance of the inauguration slated for September 23. It was suggested that the works be taken up on a priority basis immediately. In a meeting here on Tuesday, the Minister and the officials discussed various issues pertaining to the nine-day event.

Tableaux

Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood suggested that the number of tableaux during the procession should be restricted to 20 as it was slated to start only after 2.30 p.m. and hence might delay the torch light parade programme at Bannimantap.
