There will not be power supply in certain areas of Udupi district on September 24 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. because of work at the 110/33/11 kV Hiriyadka Electricity Sub-Station. A Mescom release said the areas to be affected are: Bandimatha, Ajekaru, Nakre, Mundli, Nailoor, TMC Water Supply, Karkala and surrounding areas.
Medical courses applications
Candidates can apply for a total 750 Scheduled Caste posts and 250 Scheduled Tribe posts in various para-medical courses across the State. A release said anyone, with a yearly income less than Rs. 2 lakh, who has passed SSLC can apply for a three-year course, while those with Pre-University degrees can apply for the two-year course. Father-son duo excels in Dell competition
Krishnaraja and his son Kaustubh, who studies in Lourdes Central School in the city, have taken top honours at ‘Dell Champs – 2013’ student outreach programme. The theme for the competition was ‘Education, Empowerment & Entertainment’, and featured a technology-based quiz contest. More than 50,000 students from 400 schools in 20 cities of the country participated in the programme, said a release.
Hyderabad rape case
Members of the Campus Front of India (CFI) on Saturday demanded the harshest possible punishment for those accused in locking up a 20-year-old college student for 17 months and raping her repeatedly. The organisation said that the same procedures followed against the accused in the infamous Delhi gang rape case should be followed against Satya Prakash Singh, the accused.
