MANGALORE: A few-days’ rain seems to have exposed the quality of asphalting on the stretch between Mahaveer Circle and Kankanady Circle here, as potholes have appeared again on it.
The corporation repaired this road by filling up potholes a month ago. The heavy rainfall in the city over the last four days has resulted in potholes resurfacing.
Harish Kottari, employed with an advertising agency, said the roads in the city had been damaged by continuous rain over the last few days and added that it showed the quality of work in poor light. Once a road is asphalted or potholes filled it should last a reasonable period, he said. “This road-work is indicative of poor class of work,” he said.
A woman working at a milk parlour on this road said that a huge pothole had surfaced near Mahaveer Circle. A shop keeper in front of the parlour is said to have placed some stones around the pothole to ensure that vehicle users avoided it. When contacted, G.V. Rajashekar, executive engineer of the corporation, said he would visit those spots and take further action.
Mr. Kottari said that a stretch in front of Mangala Nursing Home had been damaged.
