Undelivered letters have been recovered from a cycle shop at Santhekatte

Udupi: People at Santhekatte area here on Saturday were astonished when they found that a postman was not delivering some letters, periodicals, and other mails for nearly three months.

Municipal Councillor Nityananda Volakadu said that postman Vijay Shervegar had not delivered some letters, periodicals, student scholarships and bank documents to the people in Santhekatte for the last four to five months. He used to dump these mails at the Lewis Cycle Shop, from where he used to hire bicycle.

“The matter came to light on Saturday.

Investigation

A team of three people under an officer of the postal department Sudhakar Mallya reached the spot after getting the news. They have taken Mr. Vijay Shervegar to the Head Post Office for enquiry. They have recovered the undelivered letters from the cycle shop,” Mr. Volakadu said.
