They stage a demonstration in Shimoga

SHIMOGA: The Shimoga District Porters’ and APMC Workers’ Association staged a demonstration here on Wednesday urging the authorities to increase their wages. The demonstrators said that porters were working at a godown belonging to the Department of Food and Civil Supplies for nearly 10 years and they did not have job security. They were also deprived of Provident Fund and ESI facilities.

They said that despite several requests made to the department there had been no positive response in this regard. They submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey and sought his intervention in this matter.

Members of the association were present.
