The Election Commission on Wednesday revised the calendar of events for elections in Periyapatna Assembly constituency in Mysore district where polling was countermanded following the death of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Sannamoge Gowda.

Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha told presspersons here that polling would be held on May 28 while counting of votes would be taken up on May 31. May 10 will be the last day for filing nominations while May 14 is the last day for withdrawal. Scrutiny of nominations would take place on May 11. Officials said only the BJP has to field a fresh candidate following the death of Mr. Sannamoge Gowda. The candidates of other parties would remain in the fray.

K. Venkatesh, sitting MLA of the Congress and K. Mahadev of the Janata Dal (Secular) are in the fray in the constituency.
